WISHLIST Got Van?

Van – We are in great need of the donation of a van. Our dream van is a Dodge Sprinter because this vehicle will address all of the present needs of our organization, which includes transporting materials to and from the makeovers (paint/building supplies, furniture, wall-sized mounted murals, etc.), transporting volunteers to and from the makeovers and transporting individuals (and their wheelchairs) to and from Blissful Bedrooms events. While a studio space is akin to “Santa’s Workshop,” a Blissful Bedrooms van will be similar to “Santa’s Sled.”

Studio Space – Blissful Bedrooms is very much in need of a donated studio space (preferably in Manhattan, Astoria/LIC, downtown Brooklyn, etc). As the quantity and quality of our bedroom makeovers increases, we find ourselves needing to prepare weeks before the actual makeover weekend. This space would accommodate volunteer artists to work on wall sized murals on mounted canvases (the exact size of the recipient’s wall), skilled volunteers to build custom beds and other accents for the room, as well as storage space for the ever growing supplies and materials associated with the bedroom makeovers. Please help if you can. Of course, any donation is tax deductible, not to mention the integral part you will play in us being able to provide these outstanding makeovers to young individuals with disabilities. Consider this donated space to be akin to “Santa’s Workshop” where Blissful Bedrooms “Volunteer Elves” will work tirelessly to bring dreams alive. This is where it all begins – paint, love, wood, compassion – just some of the ingredients that go into creating a dream bedroom for the recipients of these makeovers.

Donors of funds (large or small donations) (Blissful Bedroom website has a secure PayPal donation button), materials and supplies for room makeovers, i.e., lumber, laminate flooring, paint & paint supplies, tools, etc.

Artists committed to creating a mural(s) or art work for a bedroom(s) which captures the heart and imagination of the recipient, and in many cases will serve as their most loyal companion for years to come.

Caterers/restaurants/markets to supply food, beverages, and snacks for our hungry team of committed volunteers who work from sun-up Saturday morning until late into the night Sunday before the room is finally revealed to the recipient.

Donation of storage space so we can store materials and supplies for future makeovers.

Grant Researchers/Grant Writers – We need someone to find grants, foundations, programs that can help us with the mission of Blissful Bedrooms, as well as the establishment of a Yoga Wonderland center, and to help us apply

Help with creating a business plan.

Printer to print Blissful Bedrooms business cards for members of Core Team (design already created and ready to be printed) as well as color copies of our flyer to promote public awareness

An individual(s) with excellent communication skills who can solicit sponsors/donations from large (or small) companies, i.e., Ikea, Target, Home Depot, P.C. Richards, etc

Publicist with media contacts to circulate press releases and create public awareness/support

Individuals with fundraising expertise to envision and execute fundraising events – celebrities, artists, respected individuals in society etc. to endorse us and lend their status to helping our cause

Event planners, Entertainers for fundraisers, Space for fundraisers, Donation of products for fundraisers

Individuals to help with the actual painting and renovations. Do not need extensive experience. But it would be great if we could have the assistance of experienced craftsmen and specialists who would like to be connected with Blissful Bedrooms and help out when needed – i.e., electricians, carpenters, plumbers, etc.

Transportation to pick up furniture/supplies and carry team to and from makeovers, Donation of vehicle for long-term use which is spacious enough to transport supplies and/or wheelchairs in addition to passengers.

Donation of bedding, rugs, curtains, pillows, bean bag chairs, cleaning supplies, furniture, computers, flat screen TV’s, sound systems, music, art supplies (i.e., large canvases, acrylic paints), track lighting. We like to provide brand new items (or relatively new) for the makeovers. These kids deserve that, many of them spend their whole life getting hand-me-downs. We want them to feel/know this room is 100% for them and inspired by them.

Musician/song writer to create an uplifting and happy song(s) for Yoga Wonderland with lyrics inspired by helping others, yoga tradition, peace in the world, etc. Perhaps for a CD in the future that can be used to raise money for our cause.

Committed videographers/photographers to document the makeovers and produce hip and effective media to be published on website and used for public awareness.

Calling all merchants, please help us raise funds to make a difference in the lives of disabled youth in NYC, simply by hosting our compact and beautifully designed donation box on your counter. This simple and valued gesture will go a long way in helping us to raise awareness about Blissful Bedrooms, and encourage people from the community to get involved with our local, home-grown charity, which is composed entirely of volunteers. We need the help of others who believe that small and consistent actions lead to big and beautiful changes in the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves.
