ANNUAL CAMPING TRIP AT BLISSFUL CABIN RETREAT 2018

The 6th Annual Camping Trip at the Blissful Cabin was AMAZING! So many people banded together to SAVE THE WEEKEND! Our camping trip was filled with divine grace. Between not having nearly enough funds to cover the expenses less than a week before we were set to depart, and the weather forecast steadfastly predicting rain for the entire weekend, as well as for campsite set-up days, this year’s camping trip was feeling like a formidable endeavor to pull off. But that all turned around completely. We received enough financial support to cover the costs and we had fantastic, warm and sunny weather for 5 days straight. To say we are feeling blessed and favored is an understatement and you would never know the obstacles we faced looking at the positive emotion in the photos below. Thank you so very much to everyone who flapped their angel wings for us and helped us to manifest this miracle of a weekend for some very happy young individuals with disabilities. So many of the participants were especially expressive during the weekend about how grateful and content they were to be there and their non-stop smiles definitely corroborated that. We are deeply thankful for all of the volunteers who gave their time and energy over the Labor Day holiday weekend to be an instrumental part of this sweet offering, as well for the generous food and entertainment donations, and the influx of generous monetary donations to help us cover the costs. Finally, these camping trips would never be possible in the first place if it weren’t for Carin & Mark Denat, who opened up their beloved Awakening Gardenings sanctuary to our cause and allowed the Blissful Cabin to emerge from a seedling of an idea to a real life space that so many young individuals with disabilities and their families now think of as their home away from home, and a safe respite from the hustle and bustle of their daily grind in the the city.

Summer is an intense and important time for Blissful Bedrooms programming. We take advantage of the warm weather to pack in as many meaningful gatherings as possible so disabled youth can get out of their bedrooms and experience joy with others. It is also one of the most grueling times in terms of successful fundraising in order to carry it all out. As you probably know, every person on the Blissful Bedrooms team volunteers their time and energy and concurrently hold down full-time jobs, as well as family responsibilities and other obligations. It speaks to the passion, endurance, and commitment that the Blissful Bedrooms team has for the mission of our organization, which is now going into the 8th year of existence! However, we do rely heavily on grassroots fundraising to sustain our charity, and we are truly grateful and honored by each and every donation that is invested so that we can continue to do this heartwarming and socially impactful work.
